Drowning is, in general, the second leading cause of death worldwide, and the first in younger age groups, even in more industrialized countries, being one of the greatest risks of death in an advanced society such as the one we live in. If, as professionals of aquatic activities, we want to guarantee a safe activity, we must be knowledgeable and take extreme preventive measures so that these events that end in tragedy do not occur. Many authors advocate adequate information and training as the main preventive measure to avoid drowning. In this sense, as a professional in this field, in order to be informed about these contents, we should know and read as a worldwide reference manual the book entitled Drowning. Prevention, Rescue, Treatment (2nd Edition), edited by Bierens, J. (2014) in the Springer publishing house.
