2nd Meeting of Editors of Scientific Communication Journals Platcom Diamante

The Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid will host the 2nd Meeting of Editors of Scientific Communication Journals next Monday, June 15, in the Luis Berlanga Conference Hall. The event will feature an al keynote by Pilar Rico-Castro, Head of the Open Science Unit at FECYT, who will address policies and advances in open science. This session is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
Prior to this, registered participants will be welcomed during the reception and institutional opening, led by Ángel Rubio Moraga, Dean of the Faculty of Information Sciences, together with Platcom President Montserrat Jurado Martín and the host journals Área Abierta and Pensar la Publicidad, represented by their editors. This opening session is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Afterward, following a short break, the session will resume with presentations by Elena López Tamayo, Director of the Dialnet Foundation, and Laura López, Technical Director of Content and Open Science Portals at the Dialnet Foundation, who will explore the role of digital platforms in scientific dissemination.
The program will continue with a roundtable featuring Javier Mayoral Sánchez, Director of the journal Estudios sobre el Mensaje Periodístico, and Manuel Gértrudix Barrio, Director of the journal Icono 14, who will discuss the present and future of scientific publications in communication.
The closing session, scheduled for 1:30 p.m., will be delivered by Joaquín Juan Penalva, Secretary of PlatCom Diamante.
PlatCom Diamante will also hold its annual General Assembly behind closed doors.
The event will bring together leading professionals from the editorial and academic fields with the aim of reflecting on current challenges in scientific communication, open access, and innovation in journal management—particularly the directors of Platcom Diamante journals, among other invited editors. This meeting is presented as a key space for exchanging experiences, fostering synergies, and strengthening the scientific community in the field of communication.
