Posted on 2023-06-01 12:36:14The international journal Miguel Hernández Communication Journal announces the monographic issue Communication and contemporary queer cinema: contents, narratives, aesthetics and audiences. This issue invites the research community to submit articles that analyse queer cinema produced since the arrival of the new millennium, paying special attention to the changes that have taken place in all areas of communication: the production, distribution and reception of queer cinema, particularly in relation to the new video on demand platforms, the festival circuit and the multiplication of audiences in a transnational environment; to the voices of emerging filmmakers both within and outside the Europe-North America axis; to the trends and disruptions in film language specific to contemporary queer cinema; to the evolution of the narratives and genres in which the new queer audiovisual production is framed, etc. Full papers are invited on any topic related to contemporary film studies at the intersection of gender/sexuality studies and/or queer theory(s).
