Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper studies and recovers Galicia, cuna de Colón, a film recently restored by Filmoteca Española. It was the first color film in the history of Spanish filmography. On the other hand, it is intended to recover the figure of its author, Enrique Barreiro, decisive in the progress of experimental cinema and in the development of the technique. His innovative cinema proposes a mixture of naturalistic images and a "thesis film". He also experimented with different technical inventions, the most important of which was to achieve color in moving images. The meticulous restoration carried out of the film by Javier Rellán and Marian del Egido recovers the original color of the time, restoring the splendor of an unusual film and recovering the figure of its author, Enrique Barreiro, as one of the most important figures in national cinematography of the first half of the Twentieth Century.
