Journalism in the Age of Virtual Reality
Main Article Content
Abstract
The book’s title, Journalism in the Age of Virtual Reality, aligns closely with the topics it explores. Structured as a collective volume, twelve authors seek to shed light on the evolving practices of news writing in response to emerging socio-economic demands and sudden technological shifts.
Digital journalism—formerly known as cyberjournalism—differs in many ways from the classical journalistic model. The representation of reality becomes increasingly fluid and formless under new digital dynamics: newsroom computerisation, an overflow of non-journalistic content, artificial intelligence, simplified narratives adapted to new platforms, widespread use of audiovisual formats, and business disruptions in the information market.
Editing digital texts has also become significantly more complex due to the imperative of immediate publication. Most of the case studies presented focus on the professional landscape of both general-interest and specialist press in Spain.
