Marco Bellocchio and Ricardo Jimeno, essential authors for an understanding of Italian cinema
Main Article Content
Abstract
There are few references to the Italian film director Mario Bellocchio in Spanish scientific literature. Although his compatriots have been able to devote the analysis that corresponds to him, he has had a more difficult time outside his borders. Nevertheless, the references and studies on his films and his person are probably of great depth and quality. When we talk about Marco Bellocchio's cinema, as Jimeno describes: "Everything is mixed in the Bellocchian universe, and in all his works, in the first and in the last, his obsessions, his impassive mothers, his anthropological nonconformists, his mirrors that tear the border between reality and fiction, dream and reason, or sanity and madness". Among the first places in the ranking in the in-depth study of the Italian film director is the one we propose today for your reading, The Cinema of Marco Bellocchio. Rabia, desencanto y lucidez, by the author Ricardo Jimeno Aranda. The work is presented as an informative adaptation of his doctoral thesis, La aproximación a la realidad histórica desde la perspectiva del cine político europeo contemporáneo: dos miradas: Marco Bellocchio y Costa-Gavras (Jimeno, 2014).
