The relationship between comics and journalism in the work of Victoria Lomasko
Main Article Content
Abstract
Victoria Lomasko is a graphic artist whose work lies at the intersection of comics and journalism. Her work focuses on exposing social and political issues, using comics as a tool for testimony and shedding light on oppressed realities. Through her graphic chronicles—such as those found in *Other Russias* (2020) and *The Last Soviet Artist* (2022)—the author addresses themes like political repression, human rights, and the injustices suffered by minorities in Russia and other Soviet regions. Her style combines visual narrative with in-depth journalistic investigation, creating a bridge between documentation and artistic illustration. By analyzing her work, it becomes evident how comics can transcend their apparent boundaries to become a form of committed journalism capable of raising social awareness.
