Suspense y narrativa: características y organización temporal

Abstract
El mecanismo narrativo del suspense es un medio para crear en el espectador tensión y ansiedad ante una serie de situaciones presentadas en un relato. La forma en que se organiza la información en el suspense es la base para entender la reacción emotiva del espectador, ya que la estructura particular del suspense condiciona el proceso perceptivo del espectador. En el suspense se crea un conflicto basado en una situación que implica una amenaza o un desafío y la acción de unos personajes destinada a superar la amenaza o desafío. La organización temporal de las distintas acciones que constituyen el suspense condiciona todo el proceso narrativo, de forma que se pueden establecer distintos mecanismos narrativos a partir de la relación temporal que mantienen entre sí. Las referencias temporales, especialmente de la amenaza, se pueden determinar con exactitud en el propio universo diegético del relato o, por el contrario, no delimitar con precisión la duración de la amenaza. El aspecto fundamental es la relación temporal entre la amenaza y las acciones de los personajes encaminadas a neutralizar dicha amenaza.
