The contemporary media ecosystem: the relevance of audiovisual production, audiovisual culture, communication and health
Main Article Content
Abstract
Miguel Hernández Communication Journal (MHJournal) presents its issue 17 (2) of 2026, a edition that delves into the transformations of the contemporary media ecosystem through two fundamental axes: the evolution of audiovisual narratives and aesthetics, and the complexity of health communication in the digital era. Through thirteen contributions, including two prologues and eleven research articles, this volume maps a territory marked by the accelerated mutation of languages and consumption practices. The works offer a critical and interdisciplinary perspective on how immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, and social media reconfigure the production of meaning, the representation of dissident identities, and the circulation of strategic knowledge for social well-being. The collection of research gathered here emphasizes the urgency of media and health literacy in the face of the challenges of misinformation on digital platforms.
