Análisis Simbólico de la Pieza de Video Danza El Observador | Symbolic Analysis of the Video Dance Piece The Observer
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract
From Victor Turner´s perspective, symbolic anthropologist, we mustn't conceptualize symbols as objects but as instruments of action, within a context, in the framework of social and artistic creation processes. The symbols then appear like components of the social action, linked to human interest, purposes, goals, means, aspirations, individual and collective ideals and as resources of artistic creation. In addition, the symbols are not static but are open to the social dynamics and the different artistic genres. Thanks to the perspective that Turner raises about symbols , we focused our study objective in analyzing the type of symbols used in screendance work titled The Observer, since they articulate the piece. There is an interpretation of the meaning of the objects, that like symbols, are used as well as the cinematic resources and visual effects, considering them symbols as well . The dance supports the argument working as the script of the work, it exposes different emotions that humans can experience within the normative society . Our main finding shows that the symbolic analysis of Victor Turner is applicable to the screendance piece we studied, and by extension what we consider generically video art.
