Author Biography

Cristina Ghetti, Independent Researcher, SP.

(she) Argentine artist who lives and works in Valencia, Spain. Visual art trends based on geometric abstraction guide conceptually and formally her work. Her production has focused primarily on  painting and installation; recently, she has  begun incorporating new media into her work, believing they can emphasize  concepts such as immersive spaces, synesthesia, interactivity, and participation, analyzing how these characteristics can enrich the conceptual dimensions of the work. She positions herself as a Latin American and feminist artist, investigating the abstract movement from its  limits, seeking alternative discourses and  hybridizations. She holds a Master’s degree in Visual and Multimedia Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), Spain, and is currently developing her doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Altea, UMH.

Insurgent Geometries: An Expanded Archive of Abstraction from a Feminine and Latin American Perspective. In her research, she proposes a feminist and decentralized reading of geometric abstract art.
