Author Biography

Mauricio Patrón Rivera, Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas de la UNAM

(he) Transdisciplinary researcher. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Aesthetic Research at UNAM. He holds a PhD in Literature from the University of Houston, a Master’s degree in Human Rights from the Universidad Iberoamericana, and a Master’s degree in Critical Theory and Museum Studies from the Independent Studies Program at MACBA/UAB.

  His collective work has focused on the development of ecological narratives with Topote de Acahual (2021–23); the relationship between art and community with Tepetongo. Balneario Crítico (2012–15); and pedagogical practices with the collective MANU(EL/LA) (2015–16). He has developed various pedagogical and writing initiatives for and about domestic workers, including the ongoing research project “Archiva del Arte de Mantenimiento” (Archive of Maintenance Art). He is a member of Al Tiro Podcast, Altavoces de Dignidad; has collaborated with the National Center for Professional Training and Leadership of Domestic Workers and the National Union of Domestic Workers in Mexico (intermittently between 2015–22); and is currently writing the novel Carmelita Torres y las Invasoras del Espacio (Carmelita Torres and the Space Invaders)—about the first protest in history against the closure of the Mexico–U.S. border in 1917—whose production has received support from Fundación Jumex and the Mellon Foundation.
