RAW MATTER is the key concept behind the objectives of this monograph, which focuses on artistic research and discourse regarding the various states of matter: liquid, solid, ephemeral, and immaterial.

Author Biographies

Juan Francisco Martínez Gómez de Albacete , MATERIA Research Group. LAB 4_ Center for Research in Arts—ClA of the UMH, SP

(he) He is a Full Professor in the Sculpture Department of the Art Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UMH, Altea Campus. He serves as the Director of the Art Department and is responsible for the Sculpture Knowledge Area. He is also a member of the Center for Research in Arts (CíA) and the MATERIA research group, which focuses on exploring the technical and plastic possibilities of artistic molding and casting to develop various solutions for three-dimensional reproduction.

(she) Holds a PhD from the UPV and has been a Permanent Professor of Labor Studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche since 2005, where she teaches undergraduate and master's courses. She is a member of the MATERIA Research Group.

Her research focuses on Cultural, Countercultural, and Gender Studies. Since 2000, her research has been presented at national and international conferences held at the Complutense University of Madrid; the Autonomous University of Madrid; the Polytechnic University of Valencia; the Abat Oliba CEU University of Barcelona; the University of Lisbon; the University of Cuba; the Museum of Romanticism in Madrid; the Elche Fantastic Film Festival; Dona i Cinema in Valencia; and the Valencian Institute of Modern Art. In 2001, she received the Catalan Critics Association Award. She has written more than 50 essays and articles that have been published in books and peer-reviewed national and international journals.

(she) Is a plastic artist, professor of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Altea, Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Alicante. Her lines of action focus on contemporary artistic practice and thought. She is interested in materials and techniques and their symbolic, expressive and transformative potential in the plastic and visual arts, as well as contemporary collective iconographies and mythologies. Her work has been exhibited in Cuba, Italy, Argentina, Morocco, Miami, Paris, Brazil, Greece, Istanbul, South Korea, Valencia, Malaga, Granada, Madrid, Murcia, Alicante, Castellón, Bilbao, Teruel, Ibiza and Tenerife.
