Prevention of Ergonomic Risks for Teachers: Improvement Plan for Educational Spaces

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a major occupational health issue among teachers, associated with sustained postures, inadequate furniture, workload and work stress. This study analyses risk factors related to MSDs in teachers, identifies the most affected body areas and proposes an ergonomic intervention in the school environment.
A review of recent studies identifies the lower back, neck and shoulders as the most affected areas, along with ergonomic, organisational, individual and psychosocial risk factors. Based on these findings, a proposal is developed including practical ergonomics training, improvement of classroom conditions, continuous monitoring and emotional support.
The study highlights the need for a preventive and multidimensional approach to teacher health, promoting safe and healthy working environments.
