Abstract

The aim of this study was to design and validate an instrument to assess teaching practices in Physical Education in Compulsory Secondary Education and Upper Secondary Education. The process was carried out in two phases: (a) construction of the instrument using the Delphi method with a coordinating group (n = 3), an expert panel (n = 6), and a pilot group (n = 45), and (b) psychometric validation in a sample of 495 students (Mage = 14.6; SD = 1.57). Confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency, and analyses of convergent, discriminant, and nomological validity were conducted. The results showed adequate model fit indices and acceptable levels of reliability. The dimensions of the questionnaire were positively related to autonomous motivation and negatively related to amotivation. These findings support the validity and reliability of the instrument for assessing teaching practices in Physical Education from the students’ perspective.
