Abstract
Abstract
The need for self-control mechanisms in the media as opposed to external control, which could adversely affect the freedom of professionals poses alternatives as audiovisual councils or ethical codes. But spanish media and public television in particular, have different perspectives on the matter and while we find corporations who opt for self-control as TVE, other public media are immersed in absolute deregulation and therefore no ethical control of information, as in Valencia television (TVV). Ethical issues that are surfacing in public television are generally due governmentalization these means for the political parties in power have made them the greatest propaganda tool completely forgetting the duty of public service with the publicly owned media. Workers Telemadrid, Canal 9, Canal Sur, etc. have reported that since the executive councils have been forged politicized pro templates successive governments, information is selected through internal censorship and has conditioned professionals defending their constitutional right to Freedom of Expression. So the need to protect these public companies should be as much a priority as defending other public services, because without accurate and plural information there is no real democracy.
