Abstract

Background: Few evidences and proposals can be found about reflections on how to carry out the practice of aquatic activities, and that can help users, trainers and facility managers in a transversal way. Being able to unify criteria and clarify these aquatic processes can help to improve the efficiency of all those actions that can be carried out around aquatic exercise.

Objectives: To make a proposal for good practice in aquatic activities, being the basis for proposing a guide that serves as a basis for the organisation and implementation of all programmes carried out in aquatic facilities.

Method: All studies relating aquatic exercise to facilities, methodology and regulations were analysed. An analysis of these studies was carried out in order to make this proposal, using the databases Medline, Scielo, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Google Scholar and Web of Science.

Results: Proposals have been made along three lines, being on the one hand the people involved in all aquatic processes (users, trainers and families), the method used in each of them and the need for the installation to be suitable for each case.

Conclusions: An initial document is presented as a preliminary step to develop a practical guide of good practices that will help users, managers and professionals to locate the needs of each of the aquatic exercise initiatives that are being implemented in the facilities in a more appropriate way.
